A boy grinning as he holds up his new colouring book in his grandparents' conservatory, open at drawings of him at a steam train with his grandad and picking blackberries with his nan, while his grandad watches from his chair

How do I make a colouring book for my grandchild?

You can make it on a phone or a computer. It saves as you go, so you can stop and come back later.

  1. Choose 20 photos

One photo makes one page. Photos the family send you on WhatsApp are usually already in your phone's photos.

  2. See every page

Each photo is drawn as a colouring page. Swap any you're not sure about.

  3. Add your message

Type it for the first page, or leave it blank and write it by hand. Give the cover a title, like their name.

  4. Choose where it goes

At checkout, enter their address as the delivery address, or your own to hand it over yourself.

What does the book look like?

A Toodaloo book of their own days out, ready to colour. Drawn from your actual photo, not a cartoon version of it.

Dear Alfie, We picked these from the photos Mummy sent us. We can't wait to see what colour you do the steam train. Lots of love, Nanny and Grandad xx

Your message goes on the first page. Or leave it blank and write it in by hand.

Questions grandparents ask

What can grandparents give a grandchild who has everything?

A colouring book made from photos of their own days out. You choose 20 photos, each one becomes a colouring page, and your message goes on the first page.

Can I make a book for each grandchild?

Yes, one for every grandson and granddaughter. Make the first book, then go to your basket. Under that book, choose “Make a copy I can change”. It starts a new book with the same photos and cover, so you only swap the photos you want to change, change the name and add your message. Extra books in the same order are 30% off. Books in one order go to one address, so if your grandchildren live in different homes, have them all sent to you to hand out, or place an order for each home.

What if I haven't got 20 photos of them?

Look in your phone's photos first: pictures the family send you on WhatsApp are usually already there. Start with the ones you've got. It saves as you go, so you can add the rest later. Very small photos may be turned away, and we'll tell you which ones.

Can the book be posted straight to my grandchild?

Yes. It can be posted straight to them. At checkout, enter their address as the delivery address. There's no price or receipt in the parcel.

What if I get stuck?

You can stop making the book at any point and come back later. If you need a hand, contact us and a person will reply. We aim to reply within a few hours.

Will it get there by Christmas?

It usually arrives in 3 to 4 working days by Royal Mail. We aim to post your book the next working day. Check the arrival date in your basket before you pay.
